Louisiana Extends Income Tax Deadline

The Louisiana Department of Revenue has announced that Louisiana income tax filing and payment deadlines have been automatically pushed back to July 15, 2020. This change applies to individual, partnership, fiduciary, and corporate income and franchise tax returns ordinarily due on either April 15 or May 15, 2020 and mirrors changes made by the IRS for federal tax returns. For corporate filers who do not use a calendar tax year, any returns or payments due between March 1 and May 30, 2020 are pushed back sixty days from the original due date.

If it is determined that the taxpayer needs additional time to file post July 15, 2020, an extension form may be submitted. This will give the taxpayer an extension to general extension date of November 15, 2020 for individual, fiduciary, and partnerships and December 15, 2020 for corporations. Penalties and interest will accrue for any balances unpaid as of July 15.
